Hi there, welcome to My Life Is For Living.
My name is Hannah. I’m a born and raised London girl and a general busy bee. Currently, I’m a full time Psychology student, working on placement within the NHS in South London, and a part time intern for Just Bee. Alongside my degree, I’m a passionate wellness advocate, health foodie, and yogi. Not a day goes by without time spent in the kitchen, a large mug of herbal tea, and a venture into the fresh air outside.
So why did I start @mylifeisforliving?
I began my Instagram three and a half years ago, when I moved to Bath for my first year at University. I’d been struggling for many years with my health and had only recently begun to move on from a very challenging period in my life. After years of unhappiness and anxiety, I wanted to lead a healthier and happier life. I wanted and needed a way to help myself move forwards. I wanted to show myself that life really was for living.
Over time, my Instagram and my self-confidence have grown, and I have begun to share more with others. Consequently, I decided to start my own website in the hope that I can inspire others too. Who knows where this may take me in the future.
My view on health and wellness.
Healthy doesn’t mean boring, it doesn’t mean low fat and it doesn’t mean restriction. To me, health means embracing what your body desires, discovering new flavours, new ingredients, and new combinations. But most importantly, health is more than just the food you eat. It means taking care of yourself as a whole being, looking after your mind and body and taking time to do the things that inspire you. So what do I do? I love doing yoga; it calms my mind and energizes my body. I love going out for an artsy cup of coffee; it warms my soul and gives me a playful buzz. I love getting a friendly hug ; that moment of connection is invaluable. What do you love?
I don’t believe in labels, or restrict myself to any one type of diet. However, I do believe in the importance of eating a healthy, balanced diet. For me, this primarily consists of wholefoods, including plenty of plant-based foods, and minimal processed foods such as refined sugars, refined carbohydrates, and processed oils. However, balance is key, so no food should ever be entirely out of the question.
Some of my recipes will fall into specific categories, but my focus is always on creating nourishing, delicious food, to feed the mind and body as one. Both extremes (overeating and restriction) are unsustainable. I hope, through my own journey to health, to help others find a balance and a more positive mind-set when it comes to nourishing their body.
The past years have inspired me to pursue my own interests in the workings of the human mind, holistic health, wellbeing, and nutrition. I hope to one day find a career path that combines some of these areas. I used to hate being ‘different’ and wanted so much to fit in with the idealised ideal. However, I have replaced ‘should’ with ‘could’ in the hope that this will lead me to whenever is right for me. Although I don’t know where life will take me just yet, I know that life really is for living and I’m going to live each moment to it’s fullest.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by. As always, please feel free to drop me an email or comment on one of my posts. Questions, collaborations, thoughts, or just to say hello, I’d love to hear from you.
